Please consider the importance of inspecting and maintaining Erosion Control Best Management Practices (BMPs). Without your help to ensure stormwater compliance on developing sites, our overall water quality efforts are limited.
Construction sites present one of the greatest concentrated threats to water quality in central Indiana. Loose soil, heavy equipment, and incomplete drainage infrastructure can create the perfect storm of factors that lead to huge volumes of sediment and other pollutants entering nearby streams and storm drains without treatment. The shear volume of sediment transported off of unstablized sites and/or unprotected storm inlets can directly, and very negatively, impact local aquatic communities, not to mention, create significant aesthetic and water quality impacts for downstream neighbors. Construction site monitoring and enforcement is required by State law and our partnering communities take this responsibility seriously.
