Greening Our Ordinances, Sept. 6-7, 2012

Hands-on sessions to help ‘green up’ key local ordinances!

This conference featured four sessions, each with an overview of the code and ordinance issues followed by two interactive group exercises.  The overviews focused on the key language, structure, and interpretation issues with codes and their administration that create barriers to better site design, stormwater management, and watershed protection.

Using portions of codes from Indiana and the Midwest, groups discussed possible solutions, including specific language changes, process changes, or support and training, that would enhance water quality outcomes.  The groups presented to the larger group and discussed in a plenary format with experienced planners and technical experts.
